GEOLOGIC TIME TOWER

Brooklyn Children’s Museum

Brooklyn, New York, USA: In-Process

At over six stories tall, the Geologic Time Tower anchors the museum’s new Earth Science Garden. Inspired by a stack of smooth-faced river stones in delicate balance (known as a cairn), the Tower embraces the same qualities but at a monumental scale. Inside guests discover a series of six color rich “geode” chambers, each with a distinctive climbing challenge and artistic flair inspired by a major epoch of geological history. As guests advance upward, they chronologically visit each epoch, they learn something about it, they discover and touch artifacts from that age, and they experience an otherworldly space that captures each epoch’s spirit. When guests reach the peak, the Tower rewards them with an expansive view of the garden below and the Crown Heights neighborhood beyond.
